City Council denies owners chance at their B&B Dream
The Grapevine City Council (Near Ft. Worth, TX) denied owners of a historic landmark home the special permit needed to convert the single-family home, in Grapevine's historic district, into a bed and breakfast. Rising property taxes and inflated property values are two reasons stated by the mayor for not approving the measure.

Bed and Breakfasts fare better than hotels and motels during downturn
According to industry analysts, bed and breakfasts have done comparatively well, compared to everything from plush hotels and average motels. Lafeyette Louisiana Resort to be site of Civil War battle
Chretien Point Plantation's new owner's have teamed up with Civir War re-enactors to recreate the historic battle on tha very plantation back in 1863. A civil war camp will be made on the grounds, and a plantation ball will be held on the weekend.

New owners have puchased a century-old bed and breakfast in Marinette, Wisconsin. The seven guest room, bed and breakfast is a homecoming for one of the new owners, and they have plans to get the 1910 home listed on the National Historic Register.

It must be election time, as tax issues are considered on both coasts
Cape May, New Jersey, is considering a 2% room tax on Bed and Breakfasts and motels, which accounts for 496 B&B rooms. However, it looks like there is almost unanimous support for the tax. On the Left Coast, Alameda County in Oakland is lifting a 10% tax on Bed and Breakfast room rates. This move is an effort to boost tourism to the area's growing wine region.
